Let’s make the most of Lent!

Ideas for a blessed and joyful season of reflection

Lent in Whitewater

Lent is a great opportunity, a gift, a precious season, to prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the love of God shown in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

40 days.  We have 6 Sundays before Holy Week, including Palm Sunday.  Ash Wednesday is this coming week, with Holy Communion and Ashes at 10am and 7:30pm.

Our Lent book “What’s so Amazing about Grace?” 1997 by Philip Yancey

(ISBN: 0-310-21862-4) explores the core teaching of the Christian Church and its practical outworking: “grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1

What does grace mean to you?  What does a lack of grace mean to you?

We have 2 discussions in Lent: Sunday 8th March and Sunday 29th March at 4:30pm to 6pm in St John’s Church, Hook, come to share your thoughts on the book.

We have a session or two every Sunday through Lent exploring the love and grace of God – and small groups too.  Please do ask if you would like to join one, just for Lent:

Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning Holy Communion, Wednesday lunchtime, Wednesday evening, Thursday evening, Sunday afternoon.  They meet in different places and not on every week.

Church of England #LiveLent: Care for God’s Creation – this is an app and a link on the Church of England website, an opportunity to rebuild our relationship with our planet.  Let’s share our practical activities with one another!

Those who have recently died: Sandy Whitehead, Ken James, Richard Bardwell, Margaret Sutton, Tony Hall.

We love to pray for people who ask for prayer, but please do ask Marion first, so that we understand the situation, and we know that the person in need has given their permission to publish their name here.  We shall continue to pray for people in our Years’ Mind for 2 years after their passing, and then request that their family confirm with us that you would like us to continue.  Thanks so much.
