THANK YOU! ST JOHN’S CHURCH, HOOK, UKULELE CONCERT

On Friday 4th October over 100 of our senior citizens raised the roof at St John’s, Hook when they sang along to the U3A Fleet Ukulele band.  The band of some 15 members played all the old favourite songs to the delight of the audience.  After an hour of sing along everyone then moved next door to the café for a delicious afternoon tea and a good old chat.   All those involved in laying on the entertainment were well rewarded with the looks of joy on all the faces of our senior citizens at the end.  As Mike an OAP said “it was the best afternoon’s entertainment in a long time. Well done St John’s, when is the next one?”

THANK YOU! MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 27th September at St John’s Church, Hook.  I especially thank Rev’d Marion and my helpers Becky, Jan, Jenny, Maureen and Pattie, without whom this could not have happened.  Enormous gratitude goes to all those who kindly gave cash donations, yummy cakes and biscuits, and super raffle prizes.  It was a very happy and comfortable get together, and I am delighted to have sent £415 to Macmillan which offers expert care, comfort and support in many ways to those affected by cancer, making a huge difference for patients, families and friends.  With appreciation, Shirley Clancy.

Volunteers are needed to clear up Rotherwick churchyard and put it to bed for winter.  The day will also provide an opportunity to pass on your inspired comments and ideas for a possible tree sculpture based on the stumps of the striking western red cedar which sadly has had to be felled for safety reasons.  Please drop by any time between 10:00 and 16:00, with or without gardening gloves, and stay for as long as you would like.  Children welcome too.  A spit roast lamb will be ready for carving from 12:30 to provide sustenance for workers and visitors alike throughout the afternoon.

Prayers for Today and the Coming Weeks

For thanksgiving: the beauty of Hampshire and the Harvest.

For prayer: us all as we seek to follow Jesus in 2019, and offer the gift of ourselves to him.

Those in need of prayer: John Clements, Michael, Linda, Nicky, Mary Jennings, Mary Watson, Luke White, Charlie Hughes, Ivor Williams, David and Lynda, Lorna Nodder, Ruth Foot, Paul Lochead, Denise, Sam and Anna.

We love to pray for people who ask for prayer, but please do ask Marion first, so that we understand the situation, and we know that the person in need has given their permission to publish their name here.  We shall continue to pray for people in our Years’ Mind for 2 years after their passing, and then request that their family confirm with us that you would like us to continue.  Thanks so much.
