Welcome To Worship

Welcome to our worship as we are gathered in heart and spirit if not in physical proximity with one another.  It is a reminder that the church is not the building but rather it is the people of God who are the church.

Opening Music

Flautist – Claire Hamer, Piano – John Keys (from, used by permission)

Opening Prayer

One God,
present yesterday, present today, present tomorrow.

One God,
in all, through all, everywhere.

One God,
powerful, gentle, holy.

We believe in you,
One God. Amen

The Splendour of the King

Prayer of Praise

Lord God, intimately close,
yet greater by far than our imagining,
we praise you for your great glory.
Help us to be still before you, and worship and adore.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit
in mysterious relationship, draw us deeper into the
wonder and mystery of your nature. Amen

Prayer to say Sorry to God

You ask us to serve others,
but we get caught up in our own needs.
Call us, catch us, send us.

You ask us to have faith in you,
but we are too anxious to trust you
Call us, catch us, send us.

You ask us to love our neighbours,
but we are too busy to notice them
Call us, catch us, send us.

We thank you Lord that you always give us another chance,
you forgive the times we have let you down and allow us to start afresh in your love.
Help us to follow you and your plans for our lives.

First Reading (2 Corinthians 13:11-14)

11Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. 12Greet one another with a holy kiss. 13All God’s people here send their greetings. 14May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Gospel Reading (Matthew 28:16-20)

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Creator God, creation was imagined by you, brought to birth by you and is continually sustained by your parental love;
In gratitude we pray for the world: For the beauty we see, may this be treasured and its riches and resources used responsibly and fairly. For the rulers and governments in the world that they may govern with justice, wisdom and compassion, particularly at this time with the Covid 19 pandemic. We pray that pray that humankind may acknowledge all that unites us and strive to show one another respect and understanding, thinking particularly of the unlawful killing of George Floyd and the subsequent protests spreading across the USA. We pray that the wonders of creation and human love may lead us to seek and to know you, living God.

In your love and mercy: Hear our prayer

Saviour God, in Christ you came to seek and to save the lost, to offer us new life and make us one with you. In gratitude we pray for all humankind in its need: For those who are lost in poverty and hunger, their lives a dehumanising struggle for existence, we think particularly of the devasting impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on many of the poorest people in this world. We pray for those who are lost in warfare or conflict, stuck in refugee camps or simply living in a war zone right now, their lives in the constant shadow od death. We pray for people lost in sickness or sorrow and we remember those known to us who may be ill at this time and bring them to you in our prayers, we remember those who are ill with the Coronavirus and those who have died.

In your love and mercy: Hear our prayer

Holy Spirit, you breath life and power into God’s people, uniting them in love and praise; in gratitude we pray for the church: We ask that you will pour your many gifts upon us, gifts of prophecy, healing, teaching, speaking, of faith, service, guidance and understanding. We pray for our church hear in Hook, Heckfield, Mattingly and Rotherwick that you will equip us for our calling and enable us to show your love and care in our communities particularly at this time of lockdown. We rpay that you will be with all those that lead our church; Marion, Shona, the ministry team and the PCCs that they will be guided by the Holy Spirit in their decisions.

In your love and mercy: Hear our prayer

May the love of God, the grace of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore. Amen

May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore. Amen
