walk the walkWalk the Walk is the largest grant making breast cancer charity in the UK… making a difference for over 20 years and raised a staggering £132 million so far, all thanks to the amazing work of our Walkers, Supporters and Volunteers.

Kim talked to us at St John's about her experiences on Walk the Walk Iceland, and how God challenges us and takes us to places we would never expect.  For Kim, realising how many people's lives are touched by cancer, and breast cancer, she wanted to do something to fundraise.  She joined a group of people on the Walk the Walk Iceland.  26.2 miles walked in a sunny night in June, and such an opportunity to walk in such fabulous surroundings!  There was a lot of preparation - time in the gym, walks to prepare, and Kim's friends from her study group helped make her a decorated bra to wear.

The day before the walk, the group visited a lagoon.  For the people in that group, breast cancer had an impact on their lives or on the lives of friends or family.  It was suggested that it was through grace that they were there, and Kim led them in singing Amazing Grace.

Why wear the bras

the brasPerhaps it’s because walking out in our bras is not really what you'd expect to see... but wearing a bra is a Walk the Walk trademark!

If you have ever seen a group of 20 women or more, let alone thousands pounding down the street in their bras, you will know the true meaning of raising awareness!

Where does the money go?

As a charity, we are committed to supporting research into breast cancer for the future health of us all, to help improve the lives of those who have cancer now, and for prevention.
